The 1530 works fine - most of the time. First, I want to reply to the comment that the "software does not load on the pc or mac." The reason that the person (in the previous comment) had difficulty with his 1530 is that you don't install the TomTom software on your computer for this model. All you need to do is connect the 1530 to the USB port and log into the TomTom site for automatic updating.
Now, regarding my unit: I really like the 1530 compared to my previous GPS. The interface works well, and the routing and graphics are very good. Time to GPS lock is so-so, and routing is competent. Cataloging of locations is okay, but I would like to see some kind of folder system for storing groups of locations for easier look-up. I really like the built-in suction cup mount.
Re-boot issue: For some reason, while on travel in upstate Vermont and in a very mountainous area, my 1530 went wildly out of control. I don't know if there was some kind of strang e electro-magnetic disturbance or multi-path issue; but for a couple of days, the unit went crazy re-booting itself during navigation. This must have happened 20-30 times. Once we left Vermont, the unit worked fine for months before it was stolen from my (unlocked) car - sigh!
I am shopping for a new unit and seriously considering replacing the unit with a similar model.
